Factor V Leiden

Hey everyone, this is my first time on here. I found this site by searching pregnancy and factor V leiden. I have this blood clotting disorder and have had 1 episode of clots. When I had that episode of clots at age 17, my doctors told me to never have children.....HELLO that is not acceptable to me, now that I am married to a wonderful man and would like to start a family.

Ok here's the scoop....when I was 17 I had an episode of blood clots in my left leg, I had emergency surgery, almost lost my life, then had a stent put in my femoral vein. After spending a week in ICU and another 3 weeks in the hospital I was told that I should never have children of my own and that I would be on Coumadin for the rest of my life(Coumadin= same ingredients used in decon, yes the RAT killer it thins their blood so much that they bleed to death) real comforting.

I was ok with that, until I got married! Now my husband does have 2 daughters that I love more than life, but something is missing from me as a woman, I have always wanted a child, I know I have 2 now but I want someone that looks like me, that I carried for 9 months that I was so sick I could not get out of bed for the first 3 of those 9 months.....I might sound a little stingy to some but to me that is part of being a woman.

Anyways I found the blog by One out of Six and read all of her blogs, I don't know if she has had an episode of clotting or just found out that is why so many miscarriages? Anyways anyone that has any information on Factor V and pregnancy that may help me approach my doctor please tell.......
